The Italian art collective Anelo1997 installation refers to the memories of the fortifications, erected to defend Trentino during the First World War. Unforte - 0724 is a place of refuge, a symbol of resistance, a defensive
and meditative architecture, a trench above ground to look and be looked from. A corridor draws us to a sacred triangular place that offers the comforting sensation to have the chance to hide from the sublime around us. That’s to retreat to a more intimate moment of nature’s contemplation. The alternating sections of oxidised iron and open space create slits to frame the beauty of nature: it is veiled just enough to make us feel less fragile in front of the landscape.The esoteric shape of the plant, a mystical sign recalling the eye of god, evokes the idea of a ritual space, a symbolic link and transit threshold between the human and the immense.
